A NEW FAMILY


Have you ever wondered what it really means to be a Christian? What it means to be a child of God? 

Well, being a child of God is to understand who you are and grasping the importance of the sacrifice that Jesus made for you. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 6 vs 18 – “And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, Says the Lord Almighty.” This clearly states that you now have a new Father who desires to have a relationship with you, just like any real father would. So your identity as a Christian is that you are a child of God and it is a sure guarantee! 


It’s the same as how you don’t question your identity as a person. You are who you are, your name and surname, and your parents are who they are. There is no doubt in your mind that they are your parents, it’s just the way it is. The same kind of faith is what you need to exercise in acknowledging who you are as a Christian.


When you choose to become a Christian all the promises in the bible come into full effect. Psalm 91 is one of the many chapters that tells us what the Lord promises to do when you become his child. This is what it means to belong to a God who loves you unconditionally, who has plans to prosper you and give you a hope for the future (Jeremiah 29 vs 11). 


Christianity is simply being adopted into the family of Jesus Christ; that is why you become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5 vs 17). Everything about you begins to change for the better because you are part of a new family, you cannot help it but change!


It’s also important to note that just like any family; we also have siblings in the family of God who are other fellow believers. We need to understand this as we run our race and remembering to fellowship and love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22 vs 39).


Basically, understanding this adoption is summed up by this one amazing verse – “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together’’- Romans 8:14-‬17.


What a joy it is to be part of God’s family through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

ARE YOU READY TO GO?

  MATTHEW 28:19-20 Jesus said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of age. Jesus is instructing us to go, we should obey and take the gospel to the ends of the earth, then we will see more people in fellowship, more people educated in the truth and more people praising God.
