MATTHEW 28:19-20
Jesus said, "Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father the Son and the
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I commanded you. And surely,
I am with you always, to the very end of age.
Jesus is instructing us to go, we should obey and take the gospel to the ends of the earth, then we will see more people in fellowship, more people educated in the truth and more people praising God. When this happens, our God will receive greater glory. Believers should go out into the world; we must travel where the lost reside. Let us join hands and go to the darkest areas of the world, in the streets, prisons or even in jungles. We must not be afraid God gave us assurance that He will be with us. It's a call for action to all believers.
MARK16:15
Emphasizes the scope of our mission to
reach every corner of the earth with the message of salvation.
ACTS1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
The promise of the Holy Spirit’s power is the key to our ability in spreading the gospel. Its encouraging for us to know that we are not alone in this mission.
2 TIMOTHY 4:2
Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
This verse speaks to the persistence and
readiness required to spread the gospel, emphasizing the need for patience and
sound teaching in all circumstances.
ACTS 13:47
He has called us to be the light of the
nations, to destroy all darkness through the gospel, by bring the message of
salvation to every corner of the globe.
The Bible makes it very clear that spreading the gospel is not optional, but an instruction we should obey in our journey in Christ Jesus. It is a mission full of challenges but also has divine support.
Steps to consider when Sharing the Gospel:
1. Build Trust
Building trust is the cornerstone of
effective communication. Get to know a person and engage in meaningful
conversations.
Show empathy towards situations if they
happen to be any. This compassion and understanding not only builds trust but
also creates and an open gateway to sharing the gospel.
In this sorrowful world people yearn to be heard.
Before sharing the word, offer an ear first as you conversate, this can be
laying a foundation of trust. It also allows you to know what challenges,
problems or issues people are facing, and opens a door for you to help.
The act of meeting needs, leads to deeper
discussions where gospel will find its way.
Use scriptures to back up whatever you are
saying, for example Romans 10: 13 says that, for, everyone who calls the name
of the Lord will be saved.
3. Ask For Permission
Seeking permission before sharing the
gospel is a mark of respect and consideration. It acknowledges the
individual's readiness to engage in the conversation.
Asking for permission also ensures they
feel comfortable and ready to explore the gospel.
Take time to know your audience, this will
help you preach the gospel in ways that make sense to them. Age, gender,
lifestyle, what they care about or even what they believe in need to be taken
into consideration.
As Christians it feels joyful to be able to walk the path in fulfilling what God has called us to do sharing the good news of salvation with others. John 3:16 is always the most appropriate to begin with.” For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him, shall not perish but have eternal life.” 1 Corinthians 15: 1- 4 tells us about his death for our sins and his resurrection.
Please note that you might be rejected in
some cases but do not give up. Jesus Himself was rejected too; our
work is to share the good news, the Holy Spirit will work in their hearts.
Preaching the gospel is a vital part of fulfilling the Great Commission given to us by our Lord Jesus. Matthew 28: 19 – 20 needs to be obeyed, it is our duty as believers to follow this instruction. Let's share the gospel faithfully for the harvest is many and also pray for people’s hearts to be opened. May we, Christians, make sure that Jesus' suffering was not in vain, for we are all committed to see it through.
