WHO TOUCHED ME?




In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 8, verse 45, we witness a profound moment when Jesus, feeling power leaving His body, asks the question, "Who touched me?" This simple yet significant inquiry reveals the remarkable nature of our Lord's power and the impact of genuine faith. Let us delve deeper into this extraordinary event and uncover its powerful lessons.

In the midst of a large crowd, a woman suffering from a debilitating issue of blood for twelve years discreetly approaches Jesus. She had tried numerous treatments without success, but upon hearing about Jesus, she is filled with hope. Determined, she thinks to herself, "If only I can touch the hem of His garment, I will be healed."

With unwavering faith, the woman manoeuvres through the crowd. She never loses sight of her goal and finally reaches out to touch the edge of Jesus' garment. Instantly, her bleeding ceases, and she feels the transformative power of Jesus flow through her.

In that moment, Jesus stops and asks, "Who touched me?" His question is not born out of ignorance but rather to highlight the significance of the woman's act of faith. Despite being surrounded by a multitude of people, only one person's touch released His power.
The woman, trembling with fear and amazement, falls before Jesus and confesses what she had done. Jesus responds with compassion and assures her that her faith has made her whole. Her act of faith, coupled with her belief in Jesus' power, brought about her miraculous healing.

The story of "Who Touched Me" holds several important lessons for us today. It reminds us that:

  1. Faith activates the power of God: The woman's faith connected her to the divine power of Jesus. Similarly, our unwavering faith can tap into God's limitless resources.
  2. The power of individual attention: Despite being in a crowded place, Jesus recognized the unique touch of faith. He acknowledges our individual efforts and desires to connect with each of us personally.
  3. The courage to approach Jesus: The woman's determination and willingness to crawl through the crowd exemplify the courage needed to come to Jesus with our needs and seek His healing and restoration.

The incident of "Who Touched Me" reveals the awe-inspiring power of faith and the compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Just as the woman with the issue of blood found healing and restoration through her touch of faith, we too can experience God's miraculous power in our lives. Let us approach Jesus with boldness, believing that His power is available to us, and be transformed by the touch of His grace and love.
